2007

Several major transmission construction projects were initiated to increase gas supply capacity and meet projected demand forecasts. Construction on a mid-line compressor station on the EGP has boosted pipeline capacity by approximately 15%. Construction has also begun on an expansion to the QGP to meet customers’ increased gas needs;

2008

The Sydney Primary Loop was officially commissioned by JGN in February 2008. Jemena constructed 30 kilometres of new gas pipelines through suburban Sydney ensuring the continued supply of gas to homes and businesses supplied by the network;

Jemena brand launch. ”Jemena” is an Aboriginal word meaning ”to hear, to listen and to think”

2008

AquaNet, part of the Jemena group, and Veolia Water Australia signed a contract with Sydney Water to build a A$100 million plant and pipeline scheme that will provide major industrial customers in western Sydney with recycled water;

2009

Jemena commissioned the Colongra Pipeline. Jemena’s asset management business delivered a contract for the supply and storage of natural gas from its Sydney-Newcastle Gas Pipeline to Delta Electricity’s Colongra gas fired power station in New South Wales. Jemena owns and operate the 9 kilometre gas pipeline and compressor station connecting the power plant. The high pressure pipeline and infrastructure will provide storage capacity to ensure Delta has enough gas to meet peak power demand;

2009

JEN and UED announced a joint program to rollout Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) which will see just over 1 million homes and businesses receive a new ‘smart meter’.  The rollout which started in September 2009, is scheduled to conclude in 2013. This rollout is part of the Victorian Government initiative to fully integrate ‘smart’ meters into the electricity networks using two way communications. The costs of the meters will be included in the regulated asset base and recovered under the regulatory regime. Jemena Asset Management has been contracted to deliver this program which includes the development and operation of new IT platforms, AMI communications infrastructure and meters.
